India and the Nordics
This book explores India’s political, economic, and cultural relations as well as arms transfers and defence cooperation with the Nordic-5—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden—from 1947 to the present day. It contains fifteen chapters dealing with major topical issues including development cooperation, the India-EFTA Economic Partnership Agreement, migration, mutual perceptions, the Arctic, and the potential for cooperation in low carbon technologies with Scandinavia.
This well-researched, pioneering book fills a long‑felt gap in the existing literature. It examines the complexity, the elements of convergence and divergence as well as the challenges and prospects of India’s relations with the Nordics.
The painstakingly compiled appendices on the exchange of bilateral visits and agreements between India and the Nordics would be of immense use as a handy reference to scholars, policy-makers, and other interested persons and institutions.
