This book compiles the contributions to the 16th International Conference on Industrial Logistics (ICIL 2025), held in Tokyo, Japan, from 30 October to 2 November 2025. Now in its fourth decade, ICIL continues to serve as a key forum where scholars and practitioners share their research in the fields of industrial logistics and supply chain management. The volume features peer reviewed contributions spanning multiple areas, including transportation, warehousing, in plant logistics, and extending to contemporary themes such as Industry 5.0, digital transformation, sustainability, reverse logistics, and smart systems integration.

The book examines topics such as how advanced automation and data intensive operations are reshaping logistics operations. Biografische Anmerkung

Dr. U. Aytun Ozturk is Professor of Management Science at Ritsumeikan University in Japan. He earned his BS from the University of California, Berkeley, and his MS and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. Since 2003, he has held academic positions in the United States, China, and Japan, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses including business analytics, data science, management science, quantitative methods, and operations management. He has applied his expertise in operations research to contexts ranging from manufacturing to tourism. His research has appeared in prominent journals, including Omega: The International Journal of Management Science and IEEE Transactions on Power Systems.

Dr. Petri Helo is a Professor of Industrial Management at the University of Vaasa in Finland and head of the Networked Value Systems Research Group and Masters Programme of Industrial Engineering and Management. Since 2003, Dr. Helo has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in operations management, enterprise resource planning, and supply chain analytics. His research focuses on digital supply chains, logistics systems, and industrial AI, with applications in manufacturing, energy, and logistics. His work appears in journals such as the International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, Computers in Industry. In addition to his academic role, he serves as Chair of the Board at Wapice Ltd. and holds board positions in several technology companies.
