This book explores the transformative concept of smart cities, which leverage advanced technology, data analytics, and intelligent infrastructure to enhance the living standards of their inhabitants. The primary goal of smart cities is to optimize urban systems, thereby improving service delivery, reducing costs, and minimizing ecological footprints. By integrating Internet of Things (IoT) devices, data-driven insights, and automated processes, smart cities create responsive urban environments that cater to the needs of their citizens. Globally, sustainability initiatives in smart cities aim to balance development, resource consumption, and ecological impacts. These strategies are crucial for enhancing the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of sustainability, making smart cities more livable, efficient, and resilient.

This book presents a comprehensive overview of the technological advancements and sustainability efforts in smart cities. It covers a wide range of topics, including e-government services, energy efficiency and renewable energy, IoT, smart infrastructure, smart transport, smart buildings, smart waste management strategies, sustainable mobility, and sustainable urban planning.

By examining these themes, the book provides insights into how smart cities are evolving to meet the challenges of modern urbanization. It highlights the innovative approaches being adopted to create urban landscapes that are not only technologically advanced but also sustainable and attuned to the needs of their residents. This volume is an essential resource for anyone interested in the future of urban living and the role of technology in shaping sustainable cities.
